There are some plastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene (polyolefins) that due to their low surface energy they are very hard to bond without specific surface treatment.
Permabond has developed adhesives specifically for bonding polyolefins without surface treatment. These adhesives have also a very good adhesion on other difficult to bond substrates such as teflon and silicone.
